Bound, catherized then drugged against my will, I found the booking process a bit volatile. I regained consciousness while being wheeled in a chair into an elevator by a seemingly panicked orderly. The doctor was very young and prescribed some medicine that proved useless to me. Food was adequate served with hot tea which is the only reason I'm giving this 3 stars. As a whole the experience left me weary of mental health professionals and the group therapy was a joke. Your time & efforts would likely be better spent with the counselors among the DBT program at Lakeview. If you make it beyond their jaded receptionists you will find some genuinely helpful people there.

Was treated horribly! Was in there for having a nervous breakdown, went over a day and a half without water and food. Every time I would try to ask my nurse LISETH how to get water she would shout out me "did you read the pamphlet"... I'm sorry but anyone in there trying to SURVIVE their own anguish doesn't have time to read a 20 pg pamphlet. Because I cried or weep at her she had me transferred to the red unit I FINALLY GOT WATER AND FOOD!!! 13 days of pure HELL! And now that Im out Im struggling again bc i was MISDIAGNOSED!!! Thank God to the doctor at Avalon that is giving up her lunch break to see me and get it RIGHT! Special thanks as I am now battling with a bladder infection caused by the severe dehydration. West Florida should be ashamed of their mental health department I would give 0 stars, but it wont let me.

A family member was a part of the IOP program and had been receiving medical leave benefits from other medical professionals for two months and seeing them for over a year for assistance with the conditions. Dr. Hayes with this program then provided notes stating that the family member was fully functioning after only two weeks in the program and should be able to return to work without accommodations. Dr. Hayes had less than two hours in appointments when making these notes causing benefits to be lost and a month of pay to be lost. This has caused the issues to become more severe due to returning to work prematurely, the additional stress in appealing the decline in medical benefits, and all leave to be used to cover the decline in benefits because of his improper and incomplete diagnosis.

Easily one of the most horrific experiences of my life, where people are treated like animals more than human beings. I was checked in at 0400, not provided food for breakfast or lunch, somehow I was missed. Verified when did not see a doctor for 11 hours, after questioning and complaining to VERY unfriendly staff members. Doctor recalled to give initial evaluation, agreed I was not a danger to self or others. Still required to stay overnight and not discharged in spite of contracting for safety. Administered ZERO medications during stay in spite of asking for prescribed medications brought to the facility. Denied access to basic toiletries brought from home. Living quarters very poor, military accommodations better in forward deployed combat zones. Additional comfort snacks and coffee flatly denied by staff members. Last thing: The Pavilion at West Florida touts itself as the best available inpatient medical facility in the Gulf Coast; and sadly, they are right about that. Do not send your loved ones here at all cost; you must seek treatment elsewhere.

Inpatient or Residential Mental Health Treatment

Inpatient or residential mental health treatment. Inpatient treatment is the most intensive level of treatment, offering 24-hour care in a secure unit of a treatment facility or hospital. Residential treatment is a step down from inpatient treatment. While there is structure and some monitoring to treatment, the big difference between residential and inpatient treatment involves the setting in which it is carried out. While inpatient treatment is typically carried out in a treatment facility or hospital, residential treatment is usually carried out in more of a home-like environment.
