Pacific Teen Treatment – Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, & Drug Tre

I had two stays at PTT, they were both extremely helpful and helped me bounce back after some really rough spots in my life. If you are looking for a place to help with mental health this is definitely the place for you😊. All of the staff is really kind and supportive. As there are only 6 clients at a time everyone's experience is truly tailored to what they need at the time. I loved both of my stays and I recommend this facility to anyone who is struggling with mental health, addiction or eating disorders. --LySm

i attended PTT for 15 days in November of 2020 for anxiety and depression related symptoms following a severe suicide attempt. my stay at PTT was short due to the extreme lack of care and negligence i experienced there. i was in crisis most of my time there; self-harming openly everyday, actively suicidal, and engaging in risky behaviors. tragically, i received no help whatsoever. admittedly, i was extremely willful of being sent to residential for (the then) third time, but the staff was embarrassingly unprepared to deal with someone with my behavioral and emotional issues. i could not be more disappointed in the level of care i received there and am grateful i left. below is a list of the most severe examples of their lack of capability, experience, and level of attentiveness to someone with critical issues. - i did not go a day without reopening a self-inflicted wound on my hand. i would openly pick at it (even drawing in notebooks with my blood while sitting at the kitchen table) and was only redirected a total of two times by staff - at the time of my attendance, there was not a teacher present (although they claimed there was one "who just didn't come in"). i needed help coordinating assignments with teachers and preparing college applications, yet despite their advertisements of an on-site teacher, there was no one present. a clinical assistant with no educational experience whatsoever was the stand-in teacher during my time there. she had the audacity to tell me it was my mom's job to reach out to teachers, when that is not, in fact, the expectation that was set with my parents prior to my intake. furthermore, when i attempted to express my frustrations with my parents, a staff monitoring my phone call would interrupt my call and take the phone away on multiple occasions, thus limiting my ability to tell my parents the truth. - i exhibited several signs risky, life-interfering behaviors during my stay there and was never once questioned on the motivations behind my actions or even prompted to discuss them with a therapist - following an EXTREMELY unprofessional group led by three therapists, i became more open about my hatred for the program and refused group. there was no follow-up following the incident in which the three undertrained therapists targeted us five clients of the time for not taking group therapy seriously enough. instead of expressing their emotions in a mature, direct, and professional way, the three adults began mocking our actions of hesitation to therapy. at this point, i was extremely vocal about how inappropriate their behavior was. therapy is intended to be a safe space in which proper interpersonal effectiveness in role-modeled and clients are not shamed for their adversities to the process. i was clear, fair, and largely respectful of how violated i felt during and after the experience. although i made attempts to repair and offer solutions (including making a list of efforts i needed to see made in order for me to feel safe in that environment and speaking directly with one of the primary therapists involved -who cried out of embarrassment for her lack of professionalism and hurt that she caused to multiple students there) i was not taken seriously and no efforts were made on their part. i could go on and on about how astonishingly awful this program is, but i don't have the energy or interest in investing any more time into this place. what i do have to say though, is that if your child is exhibiting any life-threatening behavior or severe mental illness, pacific teen treatment is NOT the place for them. i can honestly say that PTT is nothing more than a glorified PHP program. if your child is looking for a place to connect with kids with similar issues, have minimally enforced structure, and subpar quality therapy in a vacation-like setting, PTT might be a good fit for them. otherwise, i highly recommend sending them to a more qualified place. (paradigm and polaris are similar, but far superior options for care)

In my opinion, PTT is an outstanding facility. PTT was my daughter's third residential treatment facility and the only one so far to make a noticeable difference in her. Unlike other facilities we have been involved with, the program at PTT is much more involved. Also, the focus is not only on the individual person, but the family dynamic as well, to help ensure long-term benefits of the program. We were impressed with the entire staff at PTT and they worked with us on insurance issues we had. I could not be more happy with the facility and the outcome.

Good treatment center for teens who are trying to detox and get away for awhile. The social groups (group therapy) consisting of the clients and only one to two staff members are, from my experience, led by the teens. I got absolutely nothing out of it. One on one therapy sessions truly depend on your therapist. Can go either way. I believe lots of time was wasted when I was here about two years ago, alot of it consisted of sitting around, possibly talking to the other clients you jive with. I personally would never take my future child if they face a crisis, if i'm blessed enough to have one. Some of the staff were INCREDIBLY helpful, a few got under my skin for not really helping much. If your kid 14-17, maybe 18, is truly addicted to any substance or at a crossroads i'd recommend this place, otherwise find elsewhere. This place can be either good or bad for your kid, roll the dice.

I would highly recommend PTT. The level of communication and responsiveness is amazing. We were well advised and educated at every step of the way. The staff was incredible and very adept at creating meaningful relationships with our child, as well helping to deal with difficult subject matter. Our child's comment upon exiting was that 'PTT was the most impactful experience of her life'. I think that says it all ...

I wholeheartedly recommend PTT to parents looking for a very professional, compassionate, nurturing and competent treatment center for their adolescent. These people really care. They work with the kids both individually and as a group but they also are there to support and nurture the parents. The facility is lovely and located close to the beaches and hiking trails. I am so happy we found PTT for my family.

Pacific Teen Treatment was wonderful right from the start. Their program style focuses not only on the teen but on the family as well.  We were able to learn and grow with our teen throughout the entire process.  It's not an easy decision when choosing a residential program but it made us feel comfortable knowing we were on this journey with them. The home is located right near the ocean, and was warm and welcoming. To our teen's delight they also had two therapy dogs for a little extra love and support. The staff was great and always available to help with questions and concerns. Our family will remember PTT fondly and would recommend it to anyone seeking more support for their teen.

We were at such a time of hopelessness and despair, worried sick about our son. He was struggling with substance abuse and on a downhill path of self-destruction. We didn't know where to go and scared to send him to some unknown program. Jeremy was amazing and able to answer all of our questions and reassured us that our child would be well cared for. PTT is highly recommended. The holistic approach with professional staff that truly care about youth had proven to significantly help our child find the himself again. The small group is so beneficial in that there were authentic relationships built along with significant trust. The incorporation of family therapy, parent group and family days bridged the continuity of care. If you are currently looking for a treatment program that is best for your son or daughter, strongly consider PTT. It has been lifesaving for many and they truly care for the well-being of the children and families they serve. Hope and love.

Inpatient or residential mental health treatment. Inpatient treatment is the most intensive level of treatment, offering 24-hour care in a secure unit of a treatment facility or hospital. Residential treatment is a step down from inpatient treatment. While there is structure and some monitoring to treatment, the big difference between residential and inpatient treatment involves the setting in which it is carried out. While inpatient treatment is typically carried out in a treatment facility or hospital, residential treatment is usually carried out in more of a home-like environment.
