Going there was the best thing I could've done. I received excellent Psychiatric care. Benefited from the groups and activities. Staff was very kind and caring. The program got me on the right path to AA and continued sobriety

I was here to help myself and it was horrible. There was a patient that continuously kept making me feel extremely uncomfortable and I alerted staff who did absolutely NOTHING!! Only they thought it was cute to laugh at my situation because of love notes that were left in my room. It was horrifying an there staff should be fired!!!

The staff, who has to handle tough situations everyday, should get a round of applause and a raise. All in all, it is what you make of it. No one wants to be there, but if you go to groups, use the exercise time, go to yoga, and listen/share to everyone in the commons you will come out a better person.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My story with my son is way too long, to write the whole situation, but please take it from me... Dr Khan will keep you as long as possible for insurance purposes, he's rude and condescending. There were other patients in there who needed medical attention and they were not given it. My husband and I sat in the lobby for 6 hours waiting to talk to someone in charge about my son, we asked to speak to the administrator, CEO, risk manager or the patient advocate and not one person would come out to speak to us, a nurse called me on the lobby phone and she was extremely rude with no compassion

Outpatient. Take your loved one elsewhere. Rude, short, condescending staff. Unacceptable "at you" communication to the family. Psychiatrist scoffs patient for belief in God. They will hang up phone on you. Poor reviews are pretty accurate. For what they are charging, you deserve to be treated with respect. Go to Windmoor or The Wave at Clearwater.

A family member was recently treated in the dual diagnosis inpatient unit. When we first arrived for intake they were very transparent about the fact that the inpatient wards were full and the time it would take to get seen would be prohibitive. They took the time to make sure my family member's vitals were stable before giving us a printout of places we could call/visit for help. The person also gave us the option of coming back, but calling ahead to ask about the day's census so that we save time. We did come back the next day and my family member was seen promptly and admitted. I think some of the negative reviews here may stem from the fact that It can be difficult to get information about your loved one, but that is because there are laws that are in place to protect the privacy of vulnerable mental health patients. Also, the hospital is a super busy place. It is important to be aware that there are times where the nursing and support staff can give you more attention and more information. I was able to get daily updates from the nursing staff and they gave me helpful information about when were the best times to call so I could get my questions answered (ie after their shift change and after patient rounds by the clinical staff). Towards the end of my family member's stay, I was able to participate in the discharge and outpatient care planning with his providers and together we came up with a plan that took into account my family member's wishes and the severity of his disease. At discharge, the follow up instructions, medications and bill was clearly communicated to us. My family member received all of his personal items intact and in the same condition they were handed over. Having a loved one with a serious mental illness and substance addiction is extremely difficult for everyone involved, especially when the delivery of mental health care has systemic dysfunctions that rely on patient insight for subacute care. This has been a long journey for me and my loved one with mental illness. My experience with the staff at North Tampa Behavioral Health has given me hope that my loved one can get better, despite all of the significant challenges he faces. A big thank you to all of them, especially Dr. Dinh and Stephanie (PHP Coordinator).

This facility wrongfully admitted me into a baker act which was supposed to be 72 hours only and they ended up keeping me for a whole week. Without telling me that they were going to keep me overnight they took my phone, wallet, and car keys. Then before I know it I’m already behind locked doors with no say/voice for my own health. Then once they admitted me into unit B I asked the nurse kindly to close my SUNROOF in my car because I wasn’t planning on being there overnight. And the nurse said they would close it for me since I didn’t have access to my keys that they already locked up int the safe or whatever. at this point they had already took my keys from me and said they would close it. So they throw me behind bars for 7 days and I find out my sunroof is still open. On my nice new car that I worked really hard for had it’s sunroof still open after 7 days of the sun burning my car touchscreen display and it could have rained but I’m super lucky that it didn’t rain for 7 days. Its super frustrating that this happened. The nurses never followed up with me upon request of me asking to confirm that they would close it for me. That’s the only thing I asked from them for a whole week and they still couldn’t give me an explanation for the predicament. The doctor also did not acknowledge my health concerns so I felt like I had no voice in my own health decisions. Very poor visit for me that’s all I have to say. Would never recommend this place for people who are just trying to get help. It’s crazy how controlling an institution can be where you as a patient have absolutely no voice at all concerning health decisions.

I've seen some awful reviews about the inpatient programs which I know nothing about but I did the intensive outpatient program for addiction. It was phenomenal. I didn't want to leave but you can't stay forever. Stephanie is the head therapist and she was truly something special. Shes very gifted at what she does and she fiercely protects and nutures her patients and genuinely cares to see them get better. She's authentic. She helped me so much in changing my thought patterns and I still picture her sitting next to me telling me that I've got this when I have struggling moments. I'm 71 days sober ( which i.never thought i could achieve) and absolutely nothing could make me go back to my drinking life

Very disappointed with this facility. They got frustrated with my mentally and intellectually disabled daughter and discharged her because they didn't want to deal with her mental health issues. The doctors and therapists are completely incompetent.

This place is AWFUL! The staff is disrespectful. Christopher hung up the phone while I was speaking to my son. Miguel placed my husband on hold for 30 minutes until his shift was over and patients were no longer allowed to use the phone. They're heartless towards patients. My son was treated like a criminal rather than a young adult struggling with mental health issues.

Inpatient or Residential Mental Health Treatment

Inpatient or residential mental health treatment. Inpatient treatment is the most intensive level of treatment, offering 24-hour care in a secure unit of a treatment facility or hospital. Residential treatment is a step down from inpatient treatment. While there is structure and some monitoring to treatment, the big difference between residential and inpatient treatment involves the setting in which it is carried out. While inpatient treatment is typically carried out in a treatment facility or hospital, residential treatment is usually carried out in more of a home-like environment.
