Terrible! The ER saw my son for psychosis, this has never happened before and i was terrified. He couldnt even answer simple questions yet due to covid, i, his mother, could not go in with him. They said it would be 2-4 hrs so i waited outside to hear about my child with crippling fear for my son. They never called even though they said they would, even asked my son if they could share information about him over the phone to me, he said yes. I finally drove home at 7 am after waiting down in the ER for 2 more hours to speak with a house manager who said she would be down to talk to me about my son and concerns i had. Never came. I got home and called and they said we do not have anyone here by that name 5x. I panicked! My son could have been discharged and wandering the city in a psychosis since he is 20 they do not have to tell me anything. I finally found out he was on the psych floor and could have no visitors and was unable to sign a consent so they could tell me about his health. 7 days passed!! I called and called. Each time the nurse was busy, at lunch, on the phone etc.! On day 6 a male nurse finally answered and told me what was happening with my son! The other nurse cut me off and said “we dont call family members to update, we have to watch these patients.” I was shocked. None the less hes home now and in an even worse state and i have no idea where to turn. He refuses to go back there and how can i blame him. Oh yea not to mention he was hallucinating and hearing voices and it had never happened before and he didnt get seen by a damn psychiatrist for evaluation and meds until the second full day and late in the evening! He was suffering literally with crippling panic attacks, begging for help. He went 5 days with no clothes, no shoes and nothing to pass time like books etc. becuz i had no idea that he could ! They knew zero health history becuz he couldn’t tell them so he def didnt get diagnosed correctly!
I have been there several times and to the emergency psychiatric ward and had a very good outcome. Also I was treated for covid-19 in January and it was the best treatment that I could ever have had I came home with medication and all the help I could ever get they helped me with everything I needed send me home with my medication and people to help me there were very good to me at the hospital...
The staff is always extremely nice and helpful. If you need anything reasonable they will see to it. The food is great, the atmosphere between patients was good, no negativity. However, this place is pretty dirty, as in.. needs a good cleaning. Also with COVID going on I was expecting there to be some sanitary cleaning going on maybe once a week, or once a day. The custodian just swiffers the rooms, and wipes down surfaces. There were bugs in my bathroom, the shower head hardly spit out any water, other patients also agreed their bathrooms were gross. Some had mold. I suggest more group sessions, more engaging with patients from staff, update the day room with some new things, maybe comfortable furniture, and fix the broken Ac unit? Overall the stay was not bad. Someone in charge needs to step up and give the place a face lift. Thank you to all staff members for being helpful and nice.
They discharged my sister and sent her to another hospital without ever communicating to us. We called in the morning 8:30 they confirmed she was doing fine when I called at lunch they said she was discharged. Aside from being in panic mode I asked why and was told they didn't have beds. I asked when did they transfer her and the nurse said "I don't know she was gone before I arrived at 7am". It was frustrating because that means a) they lied about her being fine when we called at 8:30am and b) the lack of communication. They provided a number to the hospital they transferred her too but I have spent 5 hours trying to confirm if she is even there. As of yet, I still don't know if she is at the hospital where they said she was transferred too. This has been a nightmare!
