I have been going to the Memphis VA for several months, Last year I transferred from Bob Michel VA Center Peoria, Illinois (Excellent Care). I have been in Orthopedics, Optometry, Prosthetics, Neurology, Podiatry. All personnel have treated me with respect, have been helpful to assist me in finding the department location of my appointment. PA Johnnie Brooks Orthopedics is an excellent health provider!!! I have never had any difficulty with my Primary Care facility at Dyersburg CBOC with my medication renewals or appointments. I also have not had any problems with the Memphis VA appointment call number. Most people that know me personally, know that I will not tolerate being disrespected or mistreated. If that happens, the VA Security Staff and or the Memphis Police probably will be called. I would suggest treating all the Employees, Clerical Staff and Medical Staff with respect and you may be surprised with the results. Please consider trying to: #1 - Be Kind #2 - Be Courteous #3 - Be Respectful
I took my friend for his eye exam today. We arrived at 10:30A.M. His eyes were dilated at 12:30 as of 4:00p.m. he still had not been seen. The dilated affect had worn off. We decided we had enough waiting and left! VA of Memphis eye clinic has to do better! The veterans deserve better! Needless to say, we were not the only ones that left before being seen by the doctor.
Come to the ER since I mess up my knee. Got here around 1230. They look at me took some x-Ray, 4 hrs and counting I have not been seen since around 1245. I tried to leave but the lady said no something is going on with your knee and you need to be seen. Been inside this room. No one has to come check on me if I’m still alive. Never again. I guess this is how veterans get treated. I don’t even care anymore I just want to go home. I hate this place 😡 Update doctor come and she said she can’t do anything for me unless it’s a broken bone. She seen me for less than 5 mins. Still hate this place
The entrance and entry into the parking lot was surprisingly easy and efficient. The next step was the actual entry into the facility. Perhaps as they should be, the guardians of the gate were somewhat brusque and peremptory. That is not surprising. The next stop at the Information Desk impressed me. The nice gentleman at the desk actually pointed me the way to my ultimate destination. Having successfully arriving at my appointment place, the receptionists checked me in. What happened to be curious was the imploring and seemingly incredulous looks that they gave me. Now this also happened with the nurses on the unit. I'm still perplexed by this behavior. Maybe my demeanor or physical appearance was repulsive. It's true. I have only been on this planet for a short time. Perhaps, I need to seek advice for further adaptation. Seriously though, the overall experience was very positive. :)
I am a patient here. I get free health care but its really not worth the long appointment wait time. I waited 2 months for an appointment before. I've called the sleep clinic to get a refill on my medication and been told they would call me back or placed on hold for 20 min. I've been up since 1am this morning and am a little grumpy.
My husband has been going to va for several years now and have always been completely satisfied every one we have encountered has been very respectful and he has got exceptional care. He has been to the ER a couple of times and the care has been excellent. So I don’t understand all the negative
This facility was my primary care for the better part of a decade. I can count the number good experiences on one hand. Roughly 95% of the staff that you interact with is extremely rude and unprofessional. This facility has TWO goals...force you to sit in the waiting room for 3+ hours for literally every single appointment only so the doctor can shove pills down your throat (if you're lucky enough to even get this much "care") and get you out of that door as soon as possible. This entire process involves the vast majority of the staff treating you like you're barely human.
Seems to be a lot of unprofessional people work her. Called the Prosthetics department today and instead of professional a normal greeting, I get someone laughing answering the phone. After they were done laughing, they helped me. Earlier today, I also called Community Care and the lady that answered the phone seemed bothered that I called her. A few years ago, I was dealing with Regina at the Sleep Lab was not very helpful. My CPAP machine stopped working and called her to get a new one. I live almost two hours always and she would not help me. She told me I had to drive down during the week to get it, which I could not, because I work. It wasn't until a few weeks dealing with her, she said she could meet me on a Saturday. Her attitude was very negative during the entire process.
