Made a mistake and forgot to order a perscption. I had just moved back to the Valley. This medication you can not quit abruptly. Promised me they would get it filled and call me. Still waiting. Had to go to Mexico to get a temporary medication. Got sick and fainted. Really disappointed with pharmacy. Got on my healthy vet and order out of Poplar Bluff Mo.
This would of been a 1 star but the problem I ran into got somewhat fixed. I recently became a homeless veteran, not by choice but I am dealing with the cards that have been dealt. My assigned Doctor was fantastic and most of staff except for the pharmacy check in clerk. The Doctor prescribed some medication I go to the pharmacy to pick up and he said 2 of them will have to sent via mail and I inform him that I am homeless and I don't have a address to provide and I ask if it can be sent here and I will come and pick it up and said with a attitude that he will not stock it here and the best he can do and tell the shipper to hold it. Basically he wasn't going to help me and overridden the Doctor orders. The next day I went to see the patient Advocate and I told him what happened and he contacted the pharmacy supervisor and one of medication was in stock and he gave it to me.
Been going here for 8 years. This time was to Labs prior to GP Doctor appt. They were busy, considering the Pandemic and all. Masks are mandatory. Usually only Patient may come in. Glad they eliminated the Temperature Check at the door, since the Heat Index makes it feel like 108°F. Might skew the results. Everyone was doing their job to the best of their abilities. It was a quick trip. Also the Volunteers are back inside. One gave me ride in golf cart from my car, and then back.
They must have paid for all the good reviews, I retired 4 years ago haven't seen a doctor once, changed at least ten doctors I never saw. Now my health is in peril and still no answer in sight, I can no longer smell but worst of all I've lost a good amount of teeth not because if negligence but due to the army starting a procedure and not finishing. Now no one cares, I'm at 80% but in the mcallen VA you have to be dying at 100% before they even set up an apt for you. It makes you wonder why there s now 27 brothers that become statistics everyday maybe its better? Maybe not? but McAllen VA wouldn't care either way, we're all numbers, sheep, used and abused for 18 years so they can treat us like a humane society.
I've been very impressed with the doctors, nurses and staff at the clinic. I can't say enough about the quality of care and the quick response they've provided for my medical needs. The politeness and kindness of everyone there is outstanding. They are all very special people that care about veterans. A very heartfelt shout out to the White Team.
i recently moved here from houston, texas McAllen VA Clinic is very very clean the staff is very polite and explains everything. not compared to VA in Houston which some of the staff is very rude and its very hard to get some clinics to answer the phone. I am very impressed with the McAllen VA Clinic.
Cardiac issues necessitated calling the Triage Nurse (Rachel), from 300 miles away. As a traveling Disabled Veteran, Age 80, I was referred to Uvalde Memorial Hospital E R, immediately! Dr David Blackburn was OUTSTANDING and the Staff were true Heroes! Have been to McAllen VA Clinic several times this year and was always welcomed with open arms, by friendly, hard working folks!! The Pharmacy has been accurate and prompt in sending refills! This facility and employees DEFINATELY deserved a five star rating!!! Thanks to all! D. Hart, USAF Disabled Vet. Age 80. THANKS and GOD BLESS!!
