The office staff is unequivocally terrible! It is common practice for them to place you on hold or just hang up on you. You can certainly sense the office staff has no sense of pride in their work and just want to get through the day. It is unbelievable how poorly the office staff accommodates the veterans that go to this facility. I am shocked this facility has three stars. Something NEEDS to change.
I had an arachnoid cyst that I didn't know about, popped in my brain. Night before I woke up with a pint of blood covering my bed, blood was escaping out of my left ear. I called the VA clinic and did a walk-in complaining of cognitive problems. After visiting the clinic they told me to drive downtown to the DeBakey medical center. The entire drive I was hallucinating and getting lost, couldn't tell red lights from green. I felt like vomiting the entire drive there. After arriving downtown, I was met with heavy skepticism and questioning. After 6 hours of waiting in the ER I finally was seen, they given me a CAT scan, told me to wait in the lobby for additional couple of hours until a doctor came out with the told me they were putting me under observation. Why? You're brain is bleeding! I didn't know what was going on at the time, I should have just left. I spent the next 3 days in the hospital, while there I was left in a room waiting to be seen for four hours. I ended up shutting the lights off, light bother me at the time. Went to sleep on the cold floor in my hospital gown. Eventually a nurse found me, they told me they didn't know where I went even though they put me in the room. The staff at the hospital seemed high and drunk, while wheeling me through the hospital in a wheelchair. I was slammed into elevator doors, I clipped the walls when turning corners. There's not a day that goes by where I don't think about seeking revenge on the VA. You got to understand, the Katy medical center put me under antidepressants that caused the arachnoid cyst. They were trying to kill me! After my visit, I flushed all my antidepressants down the toilet. I choose to suffer pain from my service injuries then being forced antidepressants and poisons. Instead of pain medicine they give you crazy powerful antidepressants, which I actually don't need. The VA is secretly trying to kill you, you're better off taking street drugs. At least it's a slow suicide instead of having your brain pop inside your skull and be treated like a useless meat bag. Pain isn't in the VA vocabulary. While working long hours at work, I slap myself in the back with sharp metal shavings from our machines, pace back and forth to distract myself from pain. Sometimes I struggle to make my hours, moving me to less productive nightshift. Pain can lead yourself to sleepless madness, I hope someone guns them all down! It's a corrupt broken lottery system and all of them should die.
If I could give no stars, I would. The worst VA clinic ever. I gave them 2 chances and there wont be a third. I went there for back pain one day. I walked in. The walk in wait times are 2 hours. I left with a prescription for my back. At the pharmacy, the pharmacist told me that the doctor didn't put their name on the prescription. I called to the VA and they tried to tell me that I never did go there. The second time, they didnt address all of my issues after sitting and waitint for 2 hours. Just save your time and go to the VA clinic in Richmond. It is much better and ive never had a problem there.
I honestly wish Veterans at this or any VA location would get appointments sooner instead of waiting months to attend an appointment. I wish VA pharmacies at this and other VA locations would have a larger collection of medications to give to Veterans. I am 100 percent disabled too. I appreciate the patient advocate supervisor for helping me too. Thanks to the patient advocate here for relaying messages to the doctors. I like how my nurse relay messages to my PCP. I appreciate the help they have given--Katy VA--but what I said above they can improve on hopefully. God bless all; love to all.
Just go somewhere else. Completely a waste of time. During my phone appointment my tire blew out. My doctor OFFERED TO CALL ME BACK AT A LATER TIME.. she calls as im picking my son up from school, so i tell her its not a good time for me to talk. She tells me thats a no show and i have to go through the entire process if getting a new therapist and scheduling for a session because she can't reschedule.. whenever i call i recieve bad customer service.
The quality of care provided by Katy/Houston VA is below par. Not necessarily the doctors but the office staff. Very unorganized in handling or even setting appointments or unknowledgeable of their job along with terrible service. Always being mislead or providing conflicted information. It just seems as if nobody knows what's going on in there and everybody always on joke time before taking care of the patients. Definitely would consider moving back to Killeen to receive better care at the Temple VA.
This review does not pertain to any care received. I was never a patient with this facility. Over 70% of medical decisions made by physicians are determined by laboratory and radiological results. Burnout leads to the majority of mistakes made in healthcare across all specialties. The laboratory manager made a statement to the effect of, 'Laboratory workers are undeserving of rest and relaxation.' If you are a Medical Lab Scientist / Tech / Assistant / Phlebotomist and you are interested in working here, then I would proceed with caution and do your research.
I had a phone call from My doctor at the Katy VA clinic. The doctor was very professional he explained my diagnosis from my lab tests that was good, I also told him lately l keep getting these chest pains. When I went to Myhealthvet.gov. on my computer, I did not see that information I told him in my Medical Report that's a problem for me.
