I had been avoiding getting any care at the VA for quite awhile due to bad experiences in the past but they've put in the effort to improve and they have. The care is indistinguishable from what you'd get at a private hospital now. Vets aren't the easiest group of people to work with for a number of reasons, and I'm sure the private sector would pay them more to do less somewhere else. These people are performing a public service and making personal sacrifices to do so, and they do it with little to no recognition from the public.
My dad is supposed to see the home base care but since the Covid they have not done their job when they have came out they don’t draw blood I asked the nurses questions they don’t know what I’m talking about half the time the doctor don’t know practically anything my dad sinuses were acting up they had him on Claritin for over a year I’ve asked her to switch him because he had a little bit of a stuffy nose and she said he needed to have a Covid test or she wasn’t coming out they’re always late to come to the house or they don’t show up I called them they’re supposed to call back they don’t call back or they don’t answer their phone or they’re always late showing up medicines have been messed up he went in to have surgery three years ago to get stents came out with COPD stage three bleeding internally never had none of that before but it’s all his fault not the surgeons if I could give a zero star I definitely would this place is nothing but a joke they should be completely shut down cannot believe we let our veterans that protect us go to a hospital like this
I have been going to the St. Louis VA for less then 6 months and it's so disappointing. I have lived in TX and CO for years and NEVER had a problem with the VA until I moved here. Now I have met some great St.louis VA stuff, not all bad, but the great majority are rude and do not know their jobs. They never answer phone calls and only sometimes call you back. The care here is noticeable lower then other VA's.
I’ve been a patient of John Cochran and Jefferson Barracks for 11 years. The services and technology have upgraded tremendously over the last 6 years. You won’t wait for months for appointments, you have so many options. I’ve had surgeries performed with excellent care. I recommend any veteran seeking VA care to please contact them.
GOOD LUCK Getting someone nice on the phone at either John Cochran and Jefferson B. They make you feel like you’re a NOBODY and inconveniencing there day by just calling. The doctors are very nice, I think they really need to start taking care of the BIG PROBLEM- Aka customer service
If you want to be disrespected and not treated as a patient you can enjoy this and more while trying to get the benefits you sacrifed for. You can also listen to people on the phone talk about how much they are doing to help you while you sit empty handed. Excuses? They got plenty. Results? Treatment plan? A year has passed waiting for the VA and I am still waiting.
