All I can say is WOW what an improvement! The entrance help desk was manned with helpful individuals and the staff was certainly wired to help. Total night and day improvement from my first visit. Just WOW. Upgraded to 5 stars. Today’s experience (2nd visit) was what I was looking for! Glad the extremely grumpy person at the front desk was no longer there!!!! ORIGINAL POST: The employees would have the perfect job if it wasn't for the vets showing up to bother them. Every question you ask to get help is clearly a bother. While they laugh and smile at each other, good luck getting anything but a scowl if you walk up to a counter.
The staff here is always polite even when some of us veterans aren't having a good day. I am leaving this review mostly because of the staff, but the facilities are always kept clean and tidy. I'm not happy that we have to pay for the popcorn now, but they did add a bunch of new flavors so it's a wash. The brightness and all of the natural light I feel is great for those with depression I think 🤔. But all in all this is one of the better va facilities I've been to.
A Gastroenterologist here advised me my severe right flank was normal. However the lack of oral contrast limited the evaluation of my bowel and mesentery by CT. Doctor tried to send me away knowing my bowel was not fully evaluated. There is NO Incentive for VA physicians to provide quality care, they cant be fired. An extremely abusive horrific doctor must have been vetted by the parole board. Sadly soldiers don't ask questions. But there is gross medical negligence & misconduct at times within the VA. Who will fulfill President Lincoln's promise to Veterans made in 1865. Or the VA motto, "'TO CARE FOR THOSE WHO SHALL HAVE BORNE THE BATTLE!" ............I CARE? Sadly within the VA, many are called but few are CHOSEN. ????????????
A majority employees here are unprofessional and rude. The employee named Derrick who work in the blood lab threw my ID on the ground and cussed at me when nobody was there at 7:45 AM Saturday because I told him not to call me "Sweetheart" last time. I hate being called "Sweetheart," "honey," or "dear" from employees that don't know me. Yet they call the male patients "Sir" with respect. I reported him but they said it was my word against his, and of course he lied. I don't get my blood test there anymore because of Derrick. I drive to another VA to avoid him. It seems a lot of the employees there hate their job or their lives and take it out on veterans. Luckily, I have a good PC doctor and a good chiropractor. However, the majority of staff lack empathy and customer service. Community care and the patient advocate at the FW VA are absolutely useless and they never answer the phone.
My expierence with the FWOPC and the V.A. in general has been exceptional. I have had one complaint about the Pharmacy services not advising the Patient or Provider when the Pharmacy cannot fill the prescription. Other than that the treatment at both FWOPC and MCD has been great. Before complaining ask yourself is this a real health concern or am I complaining because my own comfort and convenience was disturbed. Please remember that the V.A. is doing the best it can with a limited budget and a limited number of qualified personnel. Many of the people at the clinics are volunteers, and "Thanks a bunch to them!". The rest are dedicated professionals who could go elsewhere and earn more money, but choose to make do with less and serve our vets the best they can under the circumstances. And I thank them all! When COVID-19 struck our community, the people I just praised looked up, saw a bunch of people trying to seek health care. So what did they do? They said 'Oh my God, there are sick people coming to this medical clinic, LOCK THE DOORS'. Did the same at the VA Dallas Medical Center.
Beware if you have an eye appointment here! Don’t be surprise if it got canceled then when you show up & then this RUDE, LOUD & LYING lady yells at the front desk that she called you to tell you that it was canceled BUT there is NO voicemail OR phone # received on your iPhone. But THANKFULLY SOMEONE ELSE helps you. Although everyone else is pleasant & help; that RUDE lady is still there, but now she does your check out & follow up appointments.....you know it wouldn’t hurt to have better customer service attitude. We’re patients with medical problems that hurt, cause frustration, irritation & whatever we have to do to have a better quality of life.
