Discovery Mood and Anxiety – Vista
Review Text :

I am EXTREMELY disappointed with Discovery. Before my child was admitted, I was up front with them and let them know up front that I had limited income and could not do large payments at all. The staff assured me that they work with many families of different income levels, assured me that there would be an affordable payment plan option. In fact, we discussed payments of less than $200 or I would have to go with a facility that offers such low payment options. Now that the bill is due and I am communicating with the accounts department, there is NO affordable option, they offered a financial aid application which I don't qualify for because I'm just above the income level so they offered 25% discount and monthly payments of over $500 and if I can't do that then the account goes to collections. There is absolutely NO compassion for people who are barely making it during these times. I have to choose between feeding my 3 children or paying my child's bill.... and Discovery DOESN'T CARE! They didn't follow through on Their word and they are not willing to accept payments of what you can afford. If they would have been straight with me I would have NEVER had my child admitted and they know it!!!

I went to CFD Vista from November 7-December 23-ish. I really liked it here. The staff were very nice, yet they were strict when needed. When I was there, we used the pool a couple of times and went outside sometimes for FIT. We did a lot of worksheets, artsy things, and durning the holidays fun activities were planned. The staff really cared for me. My only complaints are that I didn't get along with some of the residents, and the therapists allowed their clients to walk out of the room. Oh, and we weren't allowed in our bedrooms unless it was bedtime. We had to stay downstairs the whole day. Other than that, this place was pretty helpful. I'm currently in their IOP program. If you're thinking about sending your daughter here, give it a try if you think this'll be a good place for her. Remember- this place only works if you let it.

This is a beautiful home, but don't let that fool you. I was very excited to have my daughter start her treatment here, but the very first day we had a session with the Therapist and the plan of care for my daughter was questionable, so that was concerning to me, but I still wanted to give this place a try. Then they show you around this beautiful home, in hopes that your child gets to use the items they show case, but that is not the case. There is a pool there and during my daughter's stay they used it once, they have grass, basketball courts, never used while my daughter stayed there. Instead they sat inside watching documentaries or completing worksheets instead. Another one of my concerns when I went during visiting hours, I heard a staff member tell one of the clients that she doesn't know what real problems are. That was quite concerning to me. Pros Facility structure is updated and nice Good client to Therapist ratio Cons Not enough one on one Therapy for the clients not sure why when only six clients in this residential. Staff unprofessional almost like they don't like there job. Limitied parking for families Amenities of the house not being used(ex: pool, basketball courts, grass area outside and horseshoe pits.) Some areas of care they are very strict and by-the-book, but others things such as code ID when calling your child was never followed or when it was recreational time they majority stayed in the house watching movies.

My teen attended in Sept/Oct 2016. The program director was assigned as my kids primary therapist (my understanding is that this doesn't happen very often) - I felt she did a great job with my teen! She held my teen accountable and challenged my teen's cognitive distortions. My teen had several major breakthroughs in the span of 30 days that have been invaluable to her treatment, self-accountability and progress. My teen (who has been struggling for several years) changed notably. Although my teen was hurt and angry with me for admitting them, my teen thanked me after her stay at the CFD in Vista. This was just one step in my teens journey (not a quick fix), yet it was one of the most important steps we made!

Due to California laws they can't do much physically to restrain someone. They also don't seem to have common sense, the therapist there revealed private info without informing or getting approval. Horrible place as far as treatment for our oldest.

Inpatient or residential mental health treatment. Inpatient treatment is the most intensive level of treatment, offering 24-hour care in a secure unit of a treatment facility or hospital. Residential treatment is a step down from inpatient treatment. While there is structure and some monitoring to treatment, the big difference between residential and inpatient treatment involves the setting in which it is carried out. While inpatient treatment is typically carried out in a treatment facility or hospital, residential treatment is usually carried out in more of a home-like environment.
