One of the worst places I’ve ever been. I was supposed to be there waiting for a bed at a low secure facility. What qualifies me is my need for DBT services which they had, and I had no cases or juvenile record. The environment is high equity, meaning there’s fights and restraints almost daily. The mental health of the residents were never being properly addressed. There was communication between residents through the floor and vents. There was cockroaches everywhere, flying or dead. The milk was often spoiled and I got sick often from it. I refused to leave my room until I left this place and they would forget to bring me meals. I don’t understand why this place doesn’t have enough licensing provisionals to get it shut down.
First impressions are everything. Please know that I have never been near this facility nor have I known anyone who attended. In my searching for facilities that offer residential programs for tweens/teens, I came across DBI. I live a few hours from it but I took the opportunity to use the "Contact Us" option on their website to obtain some further information about their programs, accepted insurances, etc. It has been well over a week and despite having received a confirmation of a successful email going through, I have yet to hear from this place. If they cannot contact an individual in order to answer some basic and perhaps not so basic questions, I can only imagine how they would "contact" (and by "contact I mean they wouldn't at ALL) parents regarding their children and things going on in the facility. Even if they called back at this point, I wouldn't send my daughter there. A very, very poor first impression to give.
