I loved the some of the staff. Like kelly and the teachers! But I still didn't get my artwork back home? It has been 3 years now. I have lost a lot of clothes there though!

The staff were my favorite part of copper hills! I loved hanging out with them and they helped me a lot through the challenging process of learning to deal with hard things in life. I really miss all of them and I’ve been trying to visit all of them but I just wanted to let you all know that it’s hard even though I live an hour away from the facility it’s still hard to visit because we’re so busy and and I try to visit at 3:00 pm during shift change so I can see day staff leaving and swing staff coming in. It works really well but I will admit, like everything there were pros and cons about copper hills and when it comes to being in facility’s for a long time it is very hard and challenging but the good thing about that is if we are positive and use coping skills we will feel a lot better about things. It takes a lot of time to understand why we are in a place like this and I could tell peers there including me struggled a lot but hopefully they have a great life! Thank you for everything!!❤️

i loved copper hills. of course there were times where i hated it, but it’s only normal to feel that way about a facility when you’re technically locked up in it. honestly, the good outweighed the bad. by far, i made so many friends that became family. so many staff that still have a place in my heart. i was there for 9 months. it took me a minute to get my self in gear, but i did it and i remained on Guide for almost three months straight. i couldn’t of done it without my Rubies staff/peers and of course my therapist(s) ❤️. i miss this place everyday of my life, i really recommend it for any teen battling mental health. it’s a tough journey, but this place helps you every step of the way.

I used to go there. A lot and changed since then. I was there for 2 and half years. I got discharged about 4 years ago and I still think back on fond memories. My first therapist, Linda, expected me to be on Guide level to discharge. I wasn’t able to keep Guide for more than a couple day’s because a certain staff would always drop my level. Linda was more than capable of treatment but her overshot expectations kept me there for a long time. I’m not saying it’s a bad place! Not by a long shot. They helped me through a lot. Especially my second therapist, Rhett, while he had more laidback expectations, he didn’t allow me to slack off on my treatment. He expected me to be on Leader level and explained being on Guide for too long can bring a person down and that they need to have a break. A lot of the staff care about the kids and love them. But some staff seemed to not care as much and that’s disheartening. However, the good staff outweigh the bad. Trust me. If you send your kid here, they WILL benefit greatly. I was on Arches (the Aspergers Unit) and they were more than loving. Most of the staff there treated us like family. I still call in and talk to the person in charge of Arches, Rachelle! She’s the SINGLE most loving person you will ever meet. If your child has the honor to meet her, they won’t forget her. I don’t know if she still works there, but I do know wherever she is, she and Letty are spreading love. To all those out there who need help this is a great place. I know in the pandemic there’s probably no outings but the outings are worth it too!! Charmaine keeps you on your toes and takes you places I, as a Californian, never experienced. For example we went to go skiing. I had never thought I’d ever do that. We also went white water rafting. That was tons of fun. Your kid will have ups and downs in this facility. They will fight and argue with staff and peers, but they will overall have a sense of community and love you can’t fine anywhere else.

My son has been at copper hills since February. He seems to have gained more self esteem, less anxiety, and depression. His therapist Lew is really nice and friendly and seems to be making a positive impression on my son. I was there a few weeks ago for a visit. The staff was really nice and friendly especially Jessica who works the front desk. She was very nice and helpful. It seemed to really enjoys her job and is a positive asset to the facility.
