Seems mostly organized for the convenience of the staff, not the patients. "Positive thinking" and actual proselytizing are pushed at the expense of allowing patients to honestly assess their situation, good, bad, and in between. Those who don't toe the line are branded "negative". I filed a formal complaint against a nurse who asserted in a group that death was not normal, that we would all be raptured one day, and that science knows nothing. The next day I found the same nurse assigned to me (after I had used my "coping skills" to get the incident out of my head and put to bed) and he brought the matter up again, defensively telling me this was the first complaint he'd received in 10 years and "after all, this is a Catholic hospital". The unit as a whole needs to work on respecting patients' diversity. There are a couple of brilliant psychiatrists on staff.
